I hate graffiti. About one millionth of what you see is witty and rest is just mess. How can we do something about it? Should there be a crackdown by the authorities? Should graffitists be made to clean up graffiti for hours on end as punishment?

I love artistic graffiti. We are bombarded with advertising, it’s the only art I see everyday which isn’t trying to sell me something.
Well put, plas. There is some beautiful work around, especially around Flinders Lane where I used to live, and a lot of stencils are really clever. One is a paper stencil of a tooth with a crown on it. Nice, huh?
P.S. Has anyone read that Melbourne: Graffiti Capital book. Is it any good? I’m thinking about getting it.
Graffiti is a serious problem regardless weather you like it or not or weather its witty or cleaver or funny if its on somebody else‘s property without their permission its wrong and yes the graffitists should be made to clean it up at their own expense. For those who think its ok tell me how would you like it on your car or fence or house or something you had to work hard to pay for, if you can comprehend such a thing.

graffiti is the most beautiful thing in the city every thing else is just encouraging consumers to consume aka adverts
