BEST SINGER /SONGWRITER
Published 1 year, 8 months ago in My life.Bob Dylan is obviously the best singer/songwriter in history. My question is: who comes second? Neil Young? Bruce The Boss? Paul Kelly? Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks? Let me now what you think.

Well,Don Maclean and Paul Simon have got to be up there.
Obviously Eminem… It takes a real poetic genius to write rap and make it both edgy and appealing on a wide scale. Some of his songs make me want to cry, others make me laugh… he is just awesome.
who ever said bob could sing? my choice John Lennon
I don’t think you can say there a number one- there are sooo many over so many different genres over so many different years who obviously appeal to so many on so many different levels…
but if I had to choose,
Bob Dylan
Influential, Poetic, Talented, not the best vocally but had a way of getting a message across that will out last generations to come.
Oh yeah definitely John Lennon.
Nah, Lennon would have been nothing without McCartney. He wrote a lot of lousy lyrics in the early years and it was only McCartney’s tunes that got that band anywhere in the crucial first three years. After that John started writing some good stuff but the McCartney was always the biggest factor in the success of the Beatles.
…And to those who say Dylan can’t sing I say his voice is actually perfect for his songs.
Well, it is an interesting debate. Of course there is no answer for this question. How do you judge best? Most influential? Highest selling? Nicest sounding? Most popular even with people that don’t like music? It’s a good question to spark debate on this site because it can’t be answered.
People say something is the best because of the effect it has had on them.
If you pit two football teams against each other you might be able to work out the best, but it doesn’t translate to music.
Bob Marley, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Ron-Hitler Barassi, who can say who is the best?
A lot of it comes down to marketing, period, chance even.
I will mention my favourite though:
E from the Eels (a band which is him and a revolving door of musicians so essentially he is a singer/songwriter).
